New compact loaders from Manitou have been dubbed 'the beast' and 'the king'. The V400 Gehl and 4000V Mustang models are billed as the strongest compact loaders in the world. The compact loaders are aimed at a broad range of uses including construction, local authorities and highways. They have a nominal capacity of 1.8tonnes, a lifting height of 3.65m and a breakout force of 4,150tonnes. The net power is 99hp at 2,200rpm and the maximum torque is 442Nm at 1,300rpm.

Hydra shearer drums, now part of the ESCO family of mining products, have been engineered with radial-style picks and tool holders that are recessed into the vane to deliver optimum cutting performance. The result is reduced wear on the drum, increased product size and lower power consumption. The range of shearer drums can also be equipped with conical style picks.

The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group claims it has taken a major step towards sustainable technology with the launch of the Conti lightweight, which can reduce the weight of fabric conveyor belts by up to 30%. “The lower weight significantly reduces the amount of drive energy needed,” explained Frank Kantorek, from the company’s business development section. “This means Conti lightweight technology makes a major contribution to the conservation of resources and protection of the environment,” he added.

The new Loadrite 360° management system has been designed to boost efficiency in quarries by integrating communication across all stages of an order for faster turnarounds and maximised payloads. Kobelco Cranes is introducing three brand new heavy-duty cranes in response to global customer demand. The releases include two new crawler cranes with telescopic booms in the 75tonne class –models TK750S and TK750FS – and one new 120tonne heavy-duty foundation crawler crane with lattice boom; the BMS1200HD. Wacker Neuson has unveiled its first dual-power mini excavator, based on the 803. As well as the machine’s standard diesel engine, an external electro-hydraulic drive can be attached to the excavator through a plug-and-play connector in the undercarriage, leaving the upperstructure with full 360 degree rotation. This makes the machine ideal for use in emission-free applications like internal demolition work.
