Having acquired concrete pump manufacturer Waitzinger in October 2012, Liebherr is presenting the four-pump range in the yellow Liebherr livery. This is the first step towards integrating Waitzinger into the huge Liebherr empire. Dana used bauma 2013 to show a hydraulic hybrid concept for use with wheeled loaders, offering the potential to reduce fuel consumption by 20-40%. Trimble’s sophisticated PCS900 machine control system can now be used on milling machines and slipform pavers, as well as featuring additional functionalities. Jeroen Snoeck, global segment manager for Trimble Navigation, said, “It used to be just for asphalt pavers but now we’re adding two more machines, mills and slipform pavers.”

Roz Buick, vice president Heavy Civil Construction at Trimble, has highlighted some key technology introductions from the firm. The GCS Flex system is an important introduction for Trimble and Buick explained, “The idea is to install a less complex system. We want to attract customers from the smaller contractors.” Comparatively low cost for a machine-control system, the basic GCS Flex package offers entry-level 2D technology and it can be upgraded to what Buick calls a ‘2½D’ system.

Volvo Construction Equipment president Pat Olney has unveiled the low-emissions technology used in the company’s forthcoming Stage IV/Tier 4 Final-compliant machines.
