Fayat Group has won an Intermat innovation award

China Road and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) is the main contractor for Croatia’s Peljeski road and bridge construction project. A number of local firms are in discussions regarding sub-contracts for the project. The link will cost around €264 million to construct. The Croatian firm Brodosplit is in discussions to supply the 70,000tonnes of steel required for the bridge.
Germany A7 Autobahn route benefiting from widening

Widening work is underway on the A7 Autobahn stretch in Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein area. The project to upgrade the 65km stretch of the route should be complete towards the end of 2018. However there is concern over the safety of the section being widened as the number of crashes grew from 740 in 2016 to 1,060 in 2017.
Colombia bridge collapse closes route stretch

A bridge on Colombia’s Bogota-Villavicencio collapsed with the deaths of 10 personnel. This has caused the closure of the route close to the El Naranjal tolling area to all but emergency vehicles. in Meta department. The Chirajara Bridge forms part of the project to construct the road to connect capital Bogota with Villavicencio. The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) held an emergency meeting with road concessionaire Coviandes, which is managing the project to construct the bridge.
Key Colombia connection construction contract

Construction work on a new road link connecting Mulalo with Loboguerrero in Colombia will commence in the third quarter of 2018. The 31km link is being handled by Colombia's National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) and is expected to cost US$560.5 million. The plans are being drawn up for the project while the necessary environmental permits are being sought from Colombia’s National Environmental Licensing Agency (ANLA). The new link will be located in Colombia’s Valle del Cauca department.

Polish projects planned to open

Nearly 450km of new roads will be added to the Polish road network during 2018. Of these close to 410km will be of dual carriageways. According to the Polish roads authority GDDKiA, the figure of 450km will beat the record 350km of roads constructed in 2018. This will also beat the earlier record of 330km of dual carriageways, which was set in 2012. New Guangdong highway for China

A new highway in China’s Guangdong Province is being planned, with construction due to commence in 2019. The 54km link will improve transport for Jiangmen City and is expected to open to traffic in 2022. Called the Yinzhouhu Highway, the project is expected to cost US$1.4 billion to construct. The high expense of the project for its length is due to the undulating terrain, with the need for four tunnel stretches as well as 25 bridges.
Mexico key highway route opens to traffic

Mexico’s Guadalajara bypass is now open to traffic. The 111km route is in Jalisco State and cost close to US$451 million to construct. The highway is Mexico’s second most important bypass, after the bypass around capital Mexico City. Jalisco State has benefited from a series of major transport infrastructure projects worth a total of $2.82 billion. Bolivia road project delay as tenders behind schedule

Bolivia’s US$554 million Occidente road project is running behind schedule and is now expected to be complete in 2020. Construction of one section, from Caracollo-Confital, is underway with close to 60% of the work having been complete. However two of the three sections of the route have not yet been put to tender. The work for the Caracollo-Confital stretch was to have been completed by January 2018 but will now be finished by September 2018. This stretch was delayed by poor weather as well as material
