Crimea’s Kerch crossing plan

A new plan is calling for the construction of a tolled tunnel under the Kerch Strait. The proposal has been put forward by InzhTekhInvestStroy. Unofficial approval has been given already for the work. Construction could commence as early as December 2015. The work would take until 2018 to complete. The planned tunnel would be 8.5km long with twin tubes, each carrying two lanes of traffic and constructed to a maximum depth of around 100m. Work starting on new Colombia bridge

Construction work is commencing on an important new bridge link in Colombia. The Puente de la Reconciliacion Bridge will connect the municipality of Mompox with the rest of the Bolivar department of Colombia. The project is being carried out by the consortium Consorcio Nacional Yati. The project will improve connections with Mompox, which is difficult to reach by road at present due to the lack of a direct route. Ukraine sets out road rebuild programme

Ukraine’s Regional Road Service estimates that US$1.08 billion is required to rebuild roads in the Donetsk Region. The work will be carried out from 2016-2025. Construction activity will focus on building 100km of new roads and repairing 2,500km of existing roads to meet current standards. The programme of work will provide up to 10,000 jobs in road-building and related industries.

Demolition work has been carried out on a bridge crossing the busy A90 route in Scotland, just to the north of the capital, Edinburgh. The bridge carried the B900 over the A90 but had to be removed as its narrow design prevented the route from being upgraded to full motorway status. The first stage of the demolition work was carried out on October 24th and 25th, with the second stage on October 31st and November 1st and final remedial work to be carried out on November 14th and 15th.
Paraguay to tender first bi-oceanic section: Carmelo Peralta and Loma Plata

Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications will tender for the first part of the bi-oceanic corridor project this month. Work involves paving on the 255km section between Carmelo Peralta, Cruce Centinela and Loma Plata in the western region of the country under a turnkey format. Strabag consortium has signed a contract with the Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) for construction of an S6 dual carriageway section. The work, worth around US$113 million, is due for completion in April 2019. It also makes Strabag responsible for more than 100km of S6 work.
