ADB to finance Ketta-Djoum road between Cameroon and Congo

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has agreed to provide more than US$421 million to finance construction of the second phase of the international Ketta-Djoum road.
Tunisia to rebuild road routes

Tunisia has major plans to upgrade its road network, with work due to commence in 2016. The Tunisian Government has said it intends to modernise 718km of roads across the country. The aim is to widen roads to 7.6m so that they meet international standards. The scheme will cover 21 governorates. Five national roads will be upgraded with a total distance of 105km, while 20 regional roads covering a distance of 320km will be updated. The project will also improve 20 local roads with a total distance of 294km.
Vietnam’s road crashes drop

Vietnam has seen a drop in the number of reported road crashes. The National Traffic Safety Committee of Vietnam reported that 7,185 people were killed by crashes between the 16th December 2014 and the 15th October 2015. There were 18,437 crashes during this period, a drop of 3.9% for the same period in the previous year. The data shows that 16,755 people were injured in crashes during the 10-month period. Norway mulls new routes across the vast Hardangervidda plateau

Norway is considering proposals for another route across over the vast Hardangervidda, one of Europe’s largest plateaux and most of which is a national park. The Norwegian Road Administration (Statens Vegvesen) said one proposal would incorporate a 6km tunnel at a cost more than €216 million, according to a report the Nationen newspaper.
Strabag to build 24km section of Poland’s S6 for €83 million

Publically listed Strabag has won the design and build contract to build a 24km section of Poland’s S6 for €83 million. The S6 expressway links the largest cities in northern Poland, Szczecin and Gdańsk. The publicly listed construction group Strabag will design and build the section between Goleniów and Koszalin for about €83 million. The first part of the €600 million Arber Dzaferi motorway between Pristina, the capital of Kosovo and Skopje in Macedonia, has opened to traffic. A UK survey, commissioned by car leasing specialist OSV, has found that almost one in seven drivers admitted to sexual activity when behind the wheel of a vehicle. Men were more willing to admit to this indiscretion than women: 60% of those that admitted to participating in a sexual activity were men, while only 40% of those that confessed were women. Plans are being worked on in Norway for a new tunnel development for part of capital Oslo’s ring Road. The Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property (Statsbygg) has proposed that part of ring road Ring 1 in Oslo should be placed underground where it runs close to the government quarter. Construction will commence on a major highway project in Colombia in the first quarter of 2016. The project for the Pacifico 1 road will be carried out by Colombian construction consortium Concesionaria Vial del Pacifico (Covipacifico). The commencement of construction is dependent on environmental licenses and land purchases however. The construction work will take five years to compete.
