Intercomp’s new tension link scales now feature the company’s fully integrated wireless weighing technology. The scales are load monitoring devices used for controlling overhead loads and line tension applications while remaining a cost-effective solution. RFX wireless weighing technology uses no external antennas and ensures dependable, accurate and safer weighing.

Intercomp has expanded its wireless efforts to a key mining scale system, the company said on Tuesday at Conexpo. Intercomp, which has provided weighing solutions for more than 35 years, now offers its fully integrated RFX wireless weighing technology on its MS450 mining scale systems.

IROCK Crushers says it designed the new TJC-3046 with easy operation, durability and efficiency in mind. For example, a user-friendly electronic crusher control system with touch-screen display is easy to operate and simplifies crushing, service and maintenance, said the company. Two of the four are not powered by diesel; the manufacturer wants to offer its customers more cost effective machines as Tier 4 engines push the price of compressors up. “The price point of the T4 interim and T4 final is getting to the point that contractors are willing to accept alternative power solutions,” said Rus Warner, Doosan’s manager of global air products.

Manitowoc has released the first synthetic hoist rope designed specifically for mobile cranes. The hoist rope is Grove’s new RT770E with KZ 100. A new, patented Aggregates Cooling System (ACS) was one of the main taking points on the stand of asphalt and concrete plant manufacturer Lintec at Conexpo. Lintec has just sold its first ever plant to concrete manufacturer Emirates Beton in Dubai. When mixing concrete in warm climates, aggregate has to be cooled in order to maintain the performance and quality of the finished product, explained Lintec managing director Carsten Weiss: “If you don’t cool it, you don’t get the strength at the end,” he said. “

Yanmar’s industrial engines division used Conexpo to show off its latest compact diesel engine equipped with a diesel particulate filter (DPF). Offering a power rating of 53.7kW at 2500rpm, the 3.3litre 4TNV98CT combines common rail electronic injection and cooled exhaust gas recirculation with the DPF system.

Phoenix Industries, which specialises in products made from recycled rubber tyres, unveiled a new type of rubber pellet at Conexpo called PelletPAVE Plus, designed to allow less virgin asphalt to be used when preparing a mix. “This new product decreases the amount of asphalt you need in your mix by up to 0.5%,” said Serji Amirkhanian, director of research and development for Phoenix Industries. Amirkhanian has been researching the use of recycled rubber in asphalt mixes for more than 25 years.

Construction projects in North America are facing skills shortages in the near future, according to Jeff Nipper, managing director for Pilosio in Canada. Nipper has built up the Italian manufacturer’s Canadian business based on a consultancy approach – with Pilosio providing advice and design services to the contractor.
