Bridgestone has launched three additional tyre lines, each with a specific duty cycle in mind. The DFAS range is initially available in a 17.5R25 size and is intended as an all-weather tyre for graders. The tyre has pyramid-shaped tread blocks with two lateral grooves to rapidly clear snow. As the tyre wears the blocks in effect get wider, providing continued grip in all conditions.

BOMAG is offering new soil compacting solutions for the 4-8tonne class with the BW177D-5 being the first of this improved range. Weighing in at 6.7tonnes, the machine has a 55.4kW diesel and Friedrich Knoche, a product manager for the soil compactors said, “These machines are totally new and they have Tier 4 Final engines. There are two versions, the DH with better gradeability and the D, which is the standard model.”

Finnish manufacturer of hydraulic generators, power washers and compressors Dynaset has updated its entire range of equipment, with the launch of the Dynaset Blue Hydraulic line. This includes 17 new products and numerous updated models. With developments in hydraulic technology, many of the products have been made more compact, though offering improved output.

International construction equipment manufacturer Chicago Pneumatic has said that it is to introduce a new range of portable and stationary generators. Volvo Construction Equipment’s new Tier 4 Final/Stage IV-compliant L250H wheeled loader has been designed to perform heavy tasks with better performance, safety and fuel economy levels using the manufacturer’s OptiShift technology. In North America the L250H is ideally suited to working with on-highway trucks, and the L250H will load a 22.7tonne tri-axle on-highway truck in just two passes. Goodyear has developed the RL-4D tyre range in response to customer demand for a harsh floor tyre in underground mining. A hybrid mix of the GP4-D and the firm’s RL5K tyre, the RL-4D is suitable for articulated dump trucks and wheeled loaders. Initially the tyre has been launched in an 875/65R29 size, but the company could develop additional sizes if there is demand.

Atlas has updated the cab on its 215LCsr short tail swing excavator. The 21.8tonne crawler gets a revised electrical system along with a new steering column and operator’s seat. A Linde LS hydraulic system provides improved control for the operator. Heating Design Equipment (HDE) was displaying updated versions of two of its successful products at Conexpo: the HDE 750 2TMT asphalt maintenance trailer and the HDE JMH 500-PA asphalt joint heater. The asphalt maintenance trailer heats up and softens an area of asphalt, allowing it to be reworked and repaired. According to HDE, the infrared heaters can soften the top 60mm of asphalt to the original mixing temperatures in between five and 10 minutes.

Hydrema has revised its 912 range of articulated dump trucks, with a move from Perkins power to a Cummins Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB motor. The QSB4.5L engine delivers 105kW of power, up 8% on the previous model, but more importantly has 20% more torque, at 620Nm. Despite the increased output, Hydrema claims similar fuel consumption to the previous ADT line-up. JCB’s new power-packed 457 wheeled loader is the first of the UK manufacturer’s machines to show off the new JCB CommandPlus cab, said to offer operators the ultimate in comfort. The cabin’s new ROPS structure has A pillars that have been moved out to the same width as the rear of the cab, providing a larger interior with a panoramic front windscreen.
