Tier 4 engines for Bobcat mini
January 6, 2017
Bobcat’s M Series mini excavators have moved to the Tier 4 emissions standard without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The E42, E45, E50 and E55 mid-size mini excavators use an ultra-low particulate combustion process engine, which in the two heavier models offers up to 12% more torque than previous models of a similar size. The excavators feature a cold weather protection system that recognises when engine temperatures are low and limits the maximum output to prevent premature component fail

Sandvik Construction: return of the Ranger series of drill rigs
January 6, 2017
Sandvik Construction has unveiled a new and improved version of the former best-selling Ranger series of surface top hammer drill rigs. The new version, Sandvik Ranger DX800, combines the strong heritage of the famous surface drill rigs with the latest drilling innovations and a significantly smaller appetite for fuel, said the company. Known to many by their former name, Ranger, Sandvik’s DX series surface top hammer drill rigs all feature a revolving superstructure enabling large drilling coverage from
Piusi introduces turnkey, durable DEF system for totes
January 6, 2017
Piusi USA has introduced a new turnkey DEF dispenser system for totes. The Piusi Three25 dispenser is built for easy installation, as well as durability and efficiency. It also includes convenient touches for customers, such as the meter readout’s location in the nozzle. An efficient 3D filter provides contamination prevention and increased life of the catalyst. Added protection to the system is provided through a sturdy, stainless steel plate with roll bar protection. A new Piusi DEF coupler is included
LiuGong’s 375B skid steer features curved design
January 6, 2017
The curved design of LiuGong’s new 375B skid steer loader improves sight lines and makes the machine stand out. The curves also provide another, much less obvious benefit. “Intelligent use of complex shapes adds another important benefit – reduced noise levels inside the cab,” the company said. “By using curves to increase the stiffness of the cab, surface transmission of sound energy is reduced.” The 375B also features improved weight distribution that enables better balance, stability and control. The n
K Series Deere loaders move to Tier 4 Final
January 6, 2017
John Deere’s K Series wheeled loaders have adopted Tier 4 Final emissions standards through the use of John Deere PowerTech engines. The company has also improved machine durability through the addition of standard axle cooling and filtration, the use of brake retractors and automatic adjusters to prevent wear and cut fuel consumption through brake drag. The K Series utility wheeled loaders also feature a standard five-speed lock-up torque converter transmission that is said to cut fuel use by 5-8%.
JCB’s all-powerful 457 wheeled loader
January 6, 2017
JCB’s new power-packed 457 wheeled loader is the first of the UK manufacturer’s machines to show off the new JCB CommandPlus cab, said to offer operators the ultimate in comfort. The cabin’s new ROPS structure has A pillars that have been moved out to the same width as the rear of the cab, providing a larger interior with a panoramic front windscreen. The machine also features JCB’s Command Driving Position, with revised pedals, a new adjustable steering column and seat-mounted hydraulic controls.
JT60 joins Ditch Witch drill range
January 6, 2017
Ditch Witch has introduced two directional drills, the JT60 and the JT60 All terrain. Both drills offer 267kN of thrust and pullback, along with up to 12,200Nm of rotational torque. Customers can choose between a 142kW Tier 3 engine or a 149kW Tier 4 Interim diesel, depending on territory. Both come with a 560l/min fluid pump that helps to ensure productive drilling, which is fully enclosed to reduce noise and to protect components. In answer to customer research, the JT60 drills come with a climate contro
Eaton introduces Hydre-MAC radial piston motor
January 6, 2017
Eaton has launched a radial piston motor suited for offshore, marine, metal recovery, mining, pulp and paper, and off-highway stationary applications. The Hydre-MAC is a low-speed, high-torque, direct-drive, radial piston motor with a cam lobe design. The motor uses less energy to deliver more power when needed. The Hydre-MAC motor, created using a MacTaggart Scott heavy-duty motor design, combines MacTaggart Scott’s motor expertise with Eaton’s industry knowledge – particularly in oil and gas, mining
Contractors report DYNAVIS hydraulic fluid leads to cost savings
January 6, 2017
Contractors can realise substantial fuel savings and productivity gains through the use of a new hydraulic fluid, said DYNAVIS. DYNAVIS is making its inaugural trade show appearance in North America at Conexpo 2014. The company has provided contractor case studies that show fuel savings of 5% to 10%, with some reporting savings of 30%. The contractors also report a “noticeable improvement” in performance. One contractor said he achieved $8,000 in measurable savings that he attributed to switching his hydr
ContiTech conveyor belts work with hotter and larger materials
January 6, 2017
ContiTech has announced the development of conveyor belts able to work with hotter and larger materials. The company’s tailor-made, heat-resistant conveyor belts now feature a new “heat control” insulating layer, ContiTech said on Monday at Conexpo 2014. That insulating layer reduces the transmission of heat from the surface of the conveyor belt to the strength members of the carcass by as much as 40ºC.
MOBA’s new PAVE-IR system features a high-speed temperature scanner to enhance road construction quality
January 6, 2017
MOBA has developed a new temperature scanner system called the PAVE-IR, designed to help operators avoid laying incorrectly heated asphalt. From mixing plant to compaction, getting the temperature of asphalt right is critical. Cold asphalt can lead to road damage, which results in additional costs of up to 46% due shorter surface lifetimes. The new MOBA PAVE-IR aims for an optimum asphalt material mix and the best possible process flow says the manufacturer.
