New Slovakia highway under construction

A section of Slovakia’s D3 highway between Skalite and Svrcinovec should be complete by May 2017. This stretch of the D3 highway is in the north of Slovakia and will improve transport links to the neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic and Poland. The section of highway was previously expected to be complete during 2016 but a series of delays have been caused by various geological issues. Colombia sourcing funds for road development

Colombia is considering additional funding for its 4G road infrastructure development programme. Private financing sources are being considered as a possible source to help pay for the third phase of the 4G road development programme. A 60km dual carriageway connecting the cities of Popayan and Pasto and a road from Cututa to Ocana may be offered as tolled routes to attract private financing. A Eurovia team worked with Etnyre to develop the operating parameters, enhanced health, safety and environmental compliance of the model. A compact excavator B7 Sigma by Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe has produced a big effort in the small German town of Dorfhain, near Dresden. The machine, acquired from the Yanmar dealer SK Baumaschinen, has as a special feature the Sigma boom that enabled it to work very precisely on a driveway located on a difficult slope and with limited swing area.
Record breaking ABM bridge beams installed near Raith, Scotland

One of the largest mobile cranes in the UK, a 1,500tonne capacity unit, recently positioned nine 90tonne 42m pre-stressed bridge beams by ABM Precast Solutions. The massive W-beams were hoisted into place at Junction 5, the Raith Interchange, on Scotland’s M74 motorway – part of the M8-M73-M74 motorway improvements project.

Vietnam is taking steps to address its high rate of road crashes, as well as the rate of serious injuries and deaths amongst road users. The rate of crashes in capital Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is of particular concern, with the authorities keen to reduce the human toll. So far in 2016, HCMC has seen 2,919 reported road crashes.
