German firm Schütte says that its ELB 500 series noise barriers are highly sound absorbent and can be used in an array of road and highway applications to reduce disturbance. Three versions are available, the standard ELB500, the single sided ELB500ZP with a single cement plate and double sided EL500ZP that is twin plated.

New viaduct in Moscow open to traffic

In Russia’s capital Moscow, a key viaduct is now open to traffic, which will help reduce the city’s chronic congestion problem. The viaduct is 820m long by 15m wide and carries traffic over the Dmitrovskoe Highway. The work on the viaduct included repairing a 367m long stretch as well as installing noise attenuation barriers along its sides. Future plans for the city include the construction of a further viaduct.

According to a recently published report, based on the findings of the Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA), the condition of road markings on the UK’s roads is so poor they require immediate remedial action. German state should invest in road maintenance before new roads
