Egis is now working on a new contract for Vindhyachal Expressway Private Limited (VEPL) on India’s National Highway 7. The three year concession is for the 73km National Highway 7 (NH-7), which connects the main city of Rewa and Hanumana of the Indian federal state of Madhya Pradesh. Egis is in charge of toll collection, route patrolling and incident management and routine maintenance of a section of the stretch (40 km) with one toll plaza of 6 lanes.

Highways contractor Ringway is nearly finished refreshing more than 300km of road markings for Hertfordshire County Council, north of London, in the United Kingdom. Two road marking crews consisting of two operatives have been working since April and are due to finish this month. UK road marking business WJ has acquired Euromark GB, the road marking division of Eurovia UK, for an undisclosed sum. Euromark, formerly Ringway Roadmarking, manufactures and installs road marking throughout UK to local authorities. It employs around 450 people and WJ said there would be no redundancies.

Four crash tests were carried out at the VTI crash laboratory in Linköping, Sweden, for the client, the insurance company Folksam. A pilot programme to develop safer roads is being planned for India’s capital Delhi. The Indian Government is developing the programme which will see 10 roads in Delhi being redesigned in a bid to boost road safety, particularly for vulnerable road users. Once the eight month pilot programme has been completed, the aim is to introduce similar measures right across the city. In a bid to boost safety in the US state of Oklahoma, new road/rail crossings are to be constructed. A budget of US$100 million has been set for the work to improve 300 of the crossings.
