Sakai’s compactors boost comfort and performance

Sakai America is launching its SW754 and SW994 twin drum rollers at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. These two models are due to go into production at the firm’s Georgia facility in 2018 and have been designed with improved operator comfort, increased working efficiency and ease of maintenance. Shell leads on new heavy duty engine oil standards

CONEXPO-CON/AGG was a chance for Shell Lubricants to showcase its new portfolio of Shell Rotella heavy duty diesel engine oils. They meet Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations which came into force on 1 December last year. For fleet operators, the changes mean less frequent maintenance stops and improved fuel efficiency. CMI Roadbuilding has taken the wraps off a second Roto-Mill cold planer at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG show. The RM-6 joins the larger RM-7 launched last year, offering much of the performance of the bigger machine but with more compact dimensions. Powered by a Tier 4 Final Cummins QSX15 diesel engine, delivering 466kW, the RM-6 has a hydrostatic drive system with variable speed ground motors.

Tadano unveils largest 2-axle rough terrain crane

Tadano has extended its range of rough terrain cranes with the GR-1200XL, unveiled at CONEXPO-CON/AGG. The GR-1200XL is now the largest 2-axle crane in the company's rough terrain range. Mitsubishi touch screen offers 10-finger functionality

Mitsubishi Electric has revealed a new generation of TFT-LCD monitor which offers enhanced touch-screen capability. Shown off at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, the 7in AT070MJ11 display has been configured to enable simultaneous 10-finger control of multiple screen functions, and should appeal to those with a degree of manual dexterity and the ability to multi-task.

Avant Tecno USA introduced its full line of compact multi-function loaders at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. The company held a demonstration where the featured articulated compact loader, the Avant 635, stayed steady even when on very uneven terrain. “It has a really low centre of gravity,” said Jani Kakela, executive vice president of the company.
Oerlikon hybrid wheel loader drive nears production

Oerlikon Drive Systems continues to develop a hybrid driveline for wheeled loader applications. Working with a Korean equipment manufacturer, the hybrid drive has undergone extensive evaluation and is nearing production readiness. On display at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG exhibition in Las Vegas, the hybrid system includes wheel drives, inverters, capacitors and a generator.

International Trucks ‘not there yet’, says boss

International Truck president Bill Kozek has said that the company has not yet reached its goal of getting trucks in and out of its dealer network for repair within a day. “We are not there but we are getting there,” he admitted. Around half are repeated in the target time, he went on. “We need to make the necessary investment in training and parts inventory – all of these items need to be working together.”
