Terex looks for internal growth and strong margins

Terex Corporation chairman and CEO Ron DeFeo is predicting strong growth over the next three years, with the aim of US$10bn revenues by 2015, up from $7.3bn in 2012. However, unlike so often in the past, he is not looking for acquisition but to develop the existing business. Indeed, the company has recently sold off much of its road construction business, as it was struggling to expand that division.
Hatz Diesel reduces frictional losses and boosts fuel efficiency

Hatz has boosted diesel engine efficiency with an all-new four-cylinder 2litre platform that combines low weight with low fuel consumption and meets Tier 4 Final/Stage IV emissions regulations without the need for a DPF. Called the 4H50TIC, the new engine uses two-valve cylinder head design to cut frictional losses, while opting for lower injection pressures of 1,800bar to contribute towards improved fuel efficiency.
Getech spins centrifugal washwater cleaner into tunnelling applications

Getech, the Italian manufacturer of centrifugal washwater cleaning systems (formerly Gennaretti) is targeting tunnelling operations with containerised versions of its V type machines. The five-machine range can remove up to 60tonnes an hour of solids from washwater flows of up to 180m3/hr.

NLMK Clabecq, the Belgian plate division of Russian steel giant NLMK Group, is benefitting from a €100m investment in its quenching and tempering operation, with the introduction of additional Quard abrasion-resistant steels and Quend high-yield strength steel plate.
Debut for Godwin’s low-head Vac-Prime pump

Xylem company Godwin has launched the Vac-Prime low-head pump to complement its Dri-Prime medium- to high-head range. Xylem’s Godwin Vac-Prime has been specifically designed for lower-head dewatering applications. It can manage heads of 11m to 25m, flows of 100m3/hour to 374m3/hour and solids with sizes from 45mm to 75mm. The pump is available in 4” and 6” (101mm and 152mm) versions.
Cat’s C7.1 engine redeveloped for less regulated markets

Caterpillar has re-engineered its 7litre C7.1 engine to create a power unit more suited to those markets with lesser-regulated emission controls. Meeting China Stage II emission regulations – equivalent to EU Stage IIIa/EPA Tier 3 – the C7.1 uses high-pressure electronic common rail fuel injection and a wastegated single turbocharger, to achieve a power output of up to 205kW.
E series breakers expand Caterpillar line-up

There are three additional models in Caterpillar’s E Series hydraulic breaker range. The H140Es, H160Es and H180Es are designed for use on medium and large excavators from the Cat 324E to the 374E.

Mitas makes specific tyres for machines operating in demanding conditions, including gravel and rock quarries. The Mitas ERL series features 12 tyres of 28mm to 90mm tread depth, with the ERL-50 designed for rocky conditions.

Tecnoidea’s high-beam design eases filter changes

Tecnoidea has introduced a plate press filtration plant with high-beam design, which is capable of working at pressures up to 16bar and said to speed the location of and replacement of breached filters. Hatz Diesel develops bolt-on DPF for L and M series engines

Hatz has revised its three and four cylinder L and M series air-cooled engine packages to comply with emissions regulations by including a cooled EGR system, DOC and DPF with active regeneration. The exhaust after-treatment package can be remote-mounted, said Hatz, and brings a 2dB(A) reduction in exhaust noise to the air-cooled engine.
Cat paving technologies lower operating costs

Caterpillar is incorporating a number of paving technologies into its compaction, cold planning and paving machinery in response to customer request for improved technology. This includes Cat Grade and Slope, standard on many Cat pavers and cold planers, which is engineered to help paving crews to precisely lay and mill material.
World premiere at bauma for Goodyear’s new wheeled loader tyre

Goodyear’s new wheeled loader tyre for heavy applications, the RT-5D, is said to offer 25% more carrying capacity, greater comfort and more powerful traction compared to its predecessor. Komatsu expects to see ‘intelligent’ machine control as a standard feature on dozers, excavators and potentially other machines within 10 years. It has started the roll-out of its intelligent machines with the D61EXi/PXi-23 dozer and a prototype PC210LCi-10 excavator.
