Ammann has launched a new infra-red controlled trench roller at bauma 2013. The new Rammax 1575 CI trench roller is the articulated counterpart to the proven, skid-steered Rammax 1515 trench roller. Its launch underscores Ammann’s position as a specialist for trench rollers and rounds off the world's most comprehensive programme by offering both steering concepts.

Hamm is presenting four newly-developed oscillatory rollers at bauma 2013. It means that the roller manufacturer is offering this environment-friendly and cost-effective compaction technology not only for medium and heavyweight tandem rollers and compactors, but also for the successful articulated rollers in the HD CompactLine.

Demolition specialist Promove has totally redesigned its 100kg hammer to create the XP101, which boasts a 35% improvement on efficiency compared to its predecessor. “The architecture of the hammer is totally different,” said Promove’s commercial director Antonio Cannao. “We have redesigned it, re-engineered it and used different components.” The redesign also allows Promex to offer the hammer at a more competitive price, said Cannao. “The design is simpler than the past model, with some internal optimisatio

Finnish company Remu has launched its new screening plant, the Remu Combi E8. A non-clogging screening plant for preparing topsoil and processing various waste materials, the re-engineered solutions have increased screening capacity by a wider 950mm screening table and a new 2.6m3 feeder unit.

Sleipner has supplied the first of its new heavyweight E550 excavator moving systems. The E550 was introduced last year for moving excavators in the 550tonne class and the first set has been sold to an un-named company in Africa. It is essentially a dolly system consisting of two sets of large-wheeled dollies with low-slung ramps and drop axles. One end of the excavator tracks is lifted off the ground by driving on to the ramps.

Cummins used bauma to reveal the QSF3.8 – a four-cylinder engine platform delivering a power range of 63-89kW – which is ready to meet Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emissions regulations. Using only SCR for its exhaust after-treatment process, the QSF3.8 avoids the need for either DOC or DPF as a result of using a high-efficiency catalyst to convert oxides of nitrogen at lower exhaust temperatures while requiring only low doses of DEF, said the company.

Iveco’s latest generation of Trakker construction truck is available with two versions of the FPT Cursor engine in 8 and 13litres, with power ratings from 230-372kW, meeting Euro V emissions. “Customers who need a Euro VI version can also choose the new Trakker with our Hi-eSCR exhaust after-treatment package,” said Alessandro Mortali, Iveco’s head of heavy trucks.

Case Construction Equipment has launched SiteWatch, its new fleet management tool, at bauma 2013. Through its ability to accurately measure operating performance customers can, according to Case, use SiteWatch to increase productivity, boost utilisation and keep on top of fleet maintenance issues. With programmed maintenance plans, the operator has the option of leaving the service and maintenance requirement to their Case dealer.

Deutz used bauma to show two hybrid projects it is currently working on, including a hybrid drive for excavators and an innovative start/stop system for compact wheeled loaders. The hybrid drive is based on using a 160kW Deutz TCD 6.1 L6 engine with an integrated motor-generator. Sandvik Construction has added the DC125R to its DC family of compact top hammer drill rigs. The remote-controlled self-propelled rig has a four-wheeled carrier that can also be equipped with rubber tracks for added mobility in difficult terrain. The plants of the new Mobicat EVO series have been redesigned from scratch, allowing the combination of new features, such as the hopper walls integrated in the chassis, or a fully hydraulic crushing gap adjustment with tried-and-tested concepts like the independent double-decker pre screen, making the plants even more diverse and efficient.

Element Six is showing its second generation D Power road picks, which have been designed to give an even longer working life than the previous model. A new tougher steel surround has been developed to match the life of the polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tip. JCB has announced the best results in its 67-year history with earnings reaching a new record. While turnover for 2012 remained virtually unchanged at £2.7 billion, profit rose by £10m to £365m on an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) basis.

Hidromek has added long-reach options for three of its excavators – the HMK220LC, HMK300LC and the HMK370LC. Aimed at special earthmoving and drainage applications, the excavators carry LR branding and have ground level reach of 15.06, 18.19 and 16.6m respectively. Load over heights range from 10.85m with the HMK220LC LR to 12.59 with the HMK300LC LR.
