Infrastructure services contractor FM Conway has signed a deal to supply Nynas, a UK provider of bitumen binder, with bitumen from its recently rebuilt Imperial Wharf terminal. The facility is on the River Thames in the town of Gravesend, near the mouth of the river and down river from London. FM Conway invested around €3.5 million to refurbish the terminal which was finished last September. The terminal has the capacity to dock and store up to 7,500tonnes of bitumen. The Russian Government has set a budget of US$1.11 billion which it is allocating for a series of road construction projects in its regions. This federally funded budget for road construction in Russia’s regions in 2015 does represent an increase from the previous year’s spending. The country’s Ministry of Planning will start analysing work that was not covered under initial contracts for private investment in current road, railway and port projects. Fonplata, a multilateral fund set up by Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, has unveiled a project to integrate roads in south-west Paraguay. The work to six section in total will include construction of new roads as well as upgrading and repairs to others. Amid concern over cost rises, Bangladesh has issued a request for expression of interest to engage a consultant for the proposed the Karnaphuli River Tunnel. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will lend Azerbaijan US$100 million of the $133 million that the country estimates it will need for road development in 2015-2017. The money is part of the ADB’s $250 million to Azerbaijan for development of energy and transportation infrastructure. Total cost of all the work is around $332 million in total.
