Paraguay’s Fonplata fund to upgrade roads in the southwest

Fonplata, a multilateral fund set up by Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, has unveiled a project to integrate roads in south-west Paraguay. The work to six section in total will include construction of new roads as well as upgrading and repairs to others. Fonplata, a multilateral fund set up by Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, has unveiled a project to integrate roads in south-west Paraguay.

The work to six section in total will include construction of new roads as well as upgrading and repairs to others. The cost is estimated to be around US$186 million, according to a report in the Paraguayan newspaper La Nacion.

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications will contribute with 75% of the funds, whereas the Paraguayan government treasury will contribute with the remaining 25%.

Sections inlcude roads around Alberdi, two stretches of Tebicuary river, Pilar, Sur de Pilar ring road and Puente Remanso Castillo-Puerte Falcon.

  • Paraguay tender process opening for bids

    Paraguay is opening the tender process for construction work on the Alberdi-Pilar road. The tender is being handled by Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). The project forms part of a US$170 million plan for infrastructure projects in the border area between Argentina and Paraguay.
