German company Atlas Maschinen and Finnish group Mantsinen have formed a new strategic partnership that will include technical cooperation covering the manufacturing of hydraulic material-handling machines and R&D. Atlas has its head office in Delmenhorst and plants in Ganderkesee and Vechta, while Mantsinen’s principal place of business is in Ylämylly, Finland.

Crane dealers across the Atlas network will be able to add Effer cranes to the range of products they offer. Effer cranes will be sold, serviced and supported by Atlas dealers in different countries and particularly in Germany and the Middle East. A senior LiuGong figure has revealed that the Chinese construction manufacturing giant is looking to double its US$700million overseas sales for 2012 in the next three years. Speaking at bauma 2013 Zeng Guang’an, the company’s vice chairman and president, explained how the ambitious international sales target was getting closer to being realised.

Manitowoc Crane Care is expanding its EnCORE dealer programme. Danish company UN Mobilkraner, which has worked with Manitowoc since 1994, now offers certified repair and refurbishment services for Grove mobile cranes in Scandinavia, under the Manitowoc Crane Care brand. To qualify for the program, dealers must invest considerable time in training technical staff, including advanced training for welders to earn the correct certifications for welding structural components on cranes.

Manitowoc Cranes and Shantui Investment intend to form a new joint venture. This will build mobile cranes in China for both domestic and export markets. The name of the joint venture will be Shantui Manitowoc Crane Company, and it will commence operations once all relevant approvals are received.
