Project planned for Panama’s Panamericana portion

In Panama work is being planned to upgrade the country’s stretch of the important Panamericana Highway. The upgrade will improve capacity and safety on the Panama stretch of the highway, which provides a key link through Central America, connecting South America with North America. Work on the Panama stretch of the Panamericana is expected to cost some US$543 million in all. The contract for the engineering services work will be carried out by Viaponte.
Amey geared for growth in Birmingham as new cycle scheme starts

Amey has begun work on a major cycle scheme in the UK city of Birmingham worth around €6.1 million The A38 corridor scheme will deliver a 4km two-way fully segregated cycle route as part of the city’s Cycle Revolution plan to make cycling an everyday way to travel. Moscow-based crane rental company TOPKRAN-RENT has purchased four new Potain Hup cranes The deal is of note as these are the first units of this type to be sold in Russia. Amey chooses polystyrene blocks for Scottish tunnel infill

Amey recently completed an infill project to make safe a disused railway tunnel underneath the approach roads north of Scotland’s Forth Road Bridge. The 420m tunnel was part of the Dunfermline to North Queensferry railway line that provided a link to the ferry service until the opening of the Forth Bridge in 1890. Kazakhstan’s major road development programme

Kazakhstan is working on a major programme of road network development. The country will have an additional 4,500km of roads added to the network during 2018. Kazakhstan’s highway network will measure a total of 600km by the end of 2018 meanwhile. By the end of 2021, the plan is for Kazakhstan to have a network of some 10,000km of tolled roads, with 5,500km being built before 2020. At present Kazakhstan has just one 210km toll road connecting Astana with Buranbay.
Polish dual carriageway under construction

Work is underway in Poland on the S1 dual carriageway that will connect the country with neighbouring Slovakia. The project is costing €1.17 billion and the new link should be ready for traffic in 2023. The tender process is underway for one of the sections at present with the bids being reviewed for the stretch linking Pryzbedza and Milowka.
Cambodia expressway project receives official approval

Official approval has been given for a major expressway project in Cambodia. The project is expected to cost US$1.87 billion and will be carried out under the build-operate-transfer model. The final approval was given by the Cambodian Government for the expressway, which will connect capital Phnom Penh with Preah Sihanouk Province.
