Cambodia expressway project receives official approval

Official approval has been given for a major expressway project in Cambodia. The project is expected to cost US$1.87 billion and will be carried out under the build-operate-transfer model. The final approval was given by the Cambodian Government for the expressway, which will connect capital Phnom Penh with Preah Sihanouk Province.

    A new highway project is planned for Cambodia that will improve transport connections to and from its capital, Phnom Penh and the coastal area, Preah Sihanouk. Construction is scheduled to commence in November 2018, with the 190km route expected to cost in the order of US$1.8 billion.     Work is starting on Cambodia’s Phnom Penh-Preah Sihanouk Expressway. The 190km route will be the first expressway in Cambodia and the project is costing US$1.9 billion.
