Bulgaria motorway tender called

The tender process for a 24km stretch of the Struma motorway project is now underway in Bulgaria. The tender has an estimated value of €447.5 million, with a significant portion of the necessary funding being provided by the EU. This section of the route runs between Kresna and Prupnik, while the project is due for completion in 2023.

New expressway project for the Philippines

Work on a US$245.6 million expressway project is now underway in the Philippines. The 58km-long expressway will improve transport between the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Regions, reducing journey times for drivers while also improving safety. The first section of the Southern Luzon Expressway-Toll Road 4 (SLEX-TR4) to be built will be between Star Toll and Lucena, lying to the south of Manila. The SLEX-TR4 route is being constructed by South Luzon Tollways, itself a subsidiary of the firm San Miguel.

Brazil state of Sao Paulo offering road concessions

In Brazil’s Sao Paulo State the authorities are looking to develop infrastructure projects by offering a series of road concession deals. In all some 1,000km of road concessions are being made available. This includes a number of road sections managed by the state’s road department (DER-SP). The roads being offered as concession include a 120km stretch of the SP-294 route, a 95km section of the SP-304 route and a 6km stretch of the SP-308 route.

Puerto Rico reversible road lane deal

A US$174 million road project is now commencing in Puerto Rico. The work will be carried out on the route connecting the PR-30 and PR-18 and involves reworking the road so that it features two reversible lanes. The project is expected to take 24 months in all, with the work being split into five separate phases. Construction of the first section connecting PR-175 with Montehiedra is expected to cost nearly $40 million as this complex stretch will include building four bridges as well as other civils work.

Systra, Kiewit and Hatch to build third bridge in Kingston, Canada

Kingston, Canada, has selected Systra International Bridge Technologies, Peter Kiewit Sons and Hatch as the preferred consortium for the design and build Third Crossing project. Highways England reports that the Silverlink triple-deck roundabout in North Tyneside is 80% complete and on schedule for opening in March next year.
