A motorcyclist in the US made a rather foolish error when showing off his wheelie skills. The car in front stopped and as the rider had being paying insufficient attention to the road ahead he rammed straight into the rear of the vehicle. Worse still, the car was a police vehicle and its occupants were none too impressed with the rider’s behaviour, booking him immediately for the offence even as he lay sprawled on the ground recovering from the impact.

A 70 year-old driver from New York in the US has clocked record distances in his 1966 vintage Volvo. Owned from new the Volvo P1800 has clocked an incredible 4.8 million km (3 million miles). The man is an enthusiastic driver covering anything from 96,000-160,000km/year (60,000-100,000 miles/year) and not only in the US, but also in Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK.

A moped rider in the US state of South Carolina was the victim of a rather unusual attack. He was riding the vehicle when another man pushed him off the moped. As the victim fell to the ground, the attacker then grabbed the victim’s prosthetic leg and used this as a weapon with which to continue the assault. The attacker was arrested and charged for the assault although the reason for the incident has not been revealed.

A Canadian man in Alberta is thought to have set a world record for the flimsiest excuse for speeding. Canadian Mounties spotted the man driving at 180km/h and when they managed to stop him, he explained he was in the process of drying his car, as it had been washed shortly beforehand. His driving licence was suspended for 45 days while he was fined C$800.

A fully functioning submarine car has been offered for sale. The car, which features the composite bodywork from a Lotus Esprit, was built for the 1977 James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me. The car is said to have cost $100,000 to convert into a submarine with the work being carried out by a specialist company in Florida and was used in extended underwater sequences in the film. A-Plant, one of the UK’s largest plant and equipment hire companies, has placed orders for a fleet of 20kVA Rental Compact generators and 6.0kVA sets from SDMO Energy, the UK arm of French generator manufacturing giant SDMO Industries. The 20kVA sets are currently being shipped into A-Plant’s depot in Maidstone, south-east England, while the 6.0kVA compact generators are being snapped up by a number of A-Plant’s depots from Dundee and Kilmarnock in Scotland, right down to Cambridge and Romford, southern
