A quick look at corporate results for some of the major construction equipment manufacturers paints a somewhat confusing picture of current demand. Atlas Copco has boosted its breaker range with the addition of three new models. These breakers form part of the essential case-mounted (EC) range and are designed to fit 22- 49tonne carriers. The heavy range breakers are the EC 140 T, EC 150 T and EC 155 T. Shantui has won a deal to supply three bulldozers to a customer in the US. The deal is of note as this is the first time Chinese manufacturers Shantui has won a dozer supply deal to the US. The move followed direct negotiations with the customer and the contract was for three bulldozers: the SD10YS, SD13YS, and SD16-3. BKT is introducing its new Earthmax Tyre range, the SR 47, SR 51 and SR 53. These three new tyres meet demands across a range of construction duties. The Earthmax SR 47 models are specially designed for rigid dump trucks operating under tough conditions in quarries. The SR 47 is said to offer high resistance, durability and stability. Meanwhile increased tread depth allows an extended wear life, boosting productivity and reducing machinery downtime.

Michelin is now giving some peace of mind to companies running fleets of heavy tipper trucks operating on construction or quarry sites. The firm says that given the risk of tyre problems when working in such tough applications, it is now offering a new damage guarantee. This applies to the MICHELIN X WORKS tyre range, for tyres equipping new vehicles or those purchased as a replacement.

The advanced PAVE-IR system from MOBA is said to help improve mat quality control during asphalt paving operations. This system is mounted on the paver and scans back and forth across the paving mat immediately behind the machine’s screed. Data on the thermal image of the mat is then displayed on a screen for the operator to see, as well as being recorded for documentation purposes and later analysis if required.

Comer Industries has expanded its product range offer in the mobile equipment market with new, high end, rotating housing, planetary drives. The new PGRF-7003, 9003 and 11003 models are said to be more compact and rugged, as well as being interchangeable. Kubota claims that its new WG3800 engine offers low emissions and high performance. This is the latest addition to the firm’s WG series of industrial water-cooled, spark ignition engines. The 3.8litre WG3800 will be offered in LPG, petrol, natural gas and a dual fuel version that can run on either petrol or natural gas. This engine will be supplied to manufacturers for construction and industrial equipment.

A-Plant has invested €3.32 million (US$3.4 million) to purchase more than 200 ride-on rollers manufactured by Hamm, part of the Wirtgen Group, for its hire fleet in the UK.
