To achieve this, the ZW220HYB-5’s four-cylinder engine powers a generator, which produces energy to drive two ele

Small is beautiful?
April 17, 2015
A UK local authority council has been criticised for what one resident has said is knowingly creating undersized parking bays. The parking area -- smaller than recommended -- makes it harder for motorists to make sure all their vehicle is within the legally allotted area. The council has been fining motorists for not having their cars completely parked within the parking bay, and that’s not fair, said the resident of Newbury, just outside London. Government recommendation is that parking bays should be a mi
Humble origins
April 17, 2015
A man in the UK has built a replica of a Pagani Zonda supercar, based around components from an old Ford Granada and with the engine from an Audi. Having spent some US$22,500 (£15,000) on the car, he now has to contend with the fact that it is not road legal. How the vehicle would perform on a racetrack has not been revealed, although it seems unlikely to be able to deliver the full 320km/h (200mph) performance of the real thing. From a distance it does indeed resemble the costly car, but on closer inspecti
Bird killer
April 17, 2015
A British man saw an injured owl lying in the roadway as he drove past. Concerned for the bird’s welfare, he then ran over the creature repeatedly. When spotted doing so by a startled passer-by, he explained that he was putting the suffering creature out of its misery. He said also that he did not believe a vet would be interested in helping the injured bird. A local bird rescue charity said otherwise however, commenting that driving a vehicle over an injured creature is not the most effective way to kill a
Suspicious car
April 17, 2015
A policeman in the UK surprised colleagues somewhat when he turned up to work in a very shiny Ferrari 458. His curious colleagues questioned how the officer could afford the costly car. Police qualified in chasing corruption cases then looked closely at the officer’s finances, finding suspicious quantities of cash. Further police work uncovered links between the officer and gangs involved in running brothels and dealing in drugs. The policeman was subsequently charged with a number of offences. He presumabl
Jet propelled

A motorcyclist in the western province of Rajasthan in India had a rather unwelcome surprise when he was knocked from his motorcycle, suffering injuries in the process. The cause of his mishap was somewhat out of the ordinary as the man had been struck by a part from an Indian Air Force MiG-27 fighter bomber as it crashed into a field nearby.

A British man has cycled around the UK, carrying his dog with him on his bicycle. The man cycled some 4,000km over a four-month period, sleeping in a tent along the way. He took his dog along for the trip and as the animal injured its paws running alongside, opted to transport the animal on the bicycle as well.
