Fast resurfacing work in UK by contractor Eurovia

In the UK the contractor Eurovia has recently carried out a challenging resurfacing job within a tight timescale. The firm had to contend with live traffic on a busy stretch of motorway, while carrying out the work close to shared intersections. Norway considers wooden bridge across Lake Mjosa

Norway could be home to the world’s longest wooden bridge if the government gives the go-ahead for a span across Lake Mjosa. In a new report, researchers conclude that it is possible, both technically and economically, to build a 1.7km wooden bridge between the towns Biri and Moelv. The World Bank is providing US$200 million to Zambia for the country’s rural road development programme. The funding is being provided through the International Development Association (IDA) and will help pay for improvements to rural roads in six of 10 provinces in Zambia. Oslofjord Tunnel closed for repairs for up to three weeks

The 7km subsea Oslofjord Tunnel in Norway will be closed for up to three weeks after a truck caught fire in the tunnel on May 5. Norwegian media report that a 500m stretch was damaged - tunnel vault, cables, insulation and road surface. Construction of a bridge and two new tunnels on Montenegro’s Bar-Boljare highway will go ahead. Permission for the projects was given by the country’s Ministry of Sustainable Development. Deutz announces strong results with interim management statement

German engine maker Deutz reports a strong performance with its interim management statement for the first quarter of 2017 today.
