Laos is evaluating its plans for the construction of a new expressway for the country’s capital, Vientiane. The project is expected to cost US$150-200 million. The planned route for expressway runs between Xaysettha district's Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC) and Dongmakkhai village in Xaythany district. The proposed north-south highway project in Vietnam is gaining traction, with financing options now being considered. The Vietnamese Government is investigating a suggestion by the country’s central bank that local funding could pay for the building of the 1,372km route. However securing financing from the private sector for major projects has become more difficult in recent times. The project is expected to cost in the region of US$13.9 billion to construct and looks likely to be built using a PPP model.
