Philippines bridge projects planned

Plans are in hand in the Philippines for a series of bridge construction projects. Two of the key bridge projects are for links between Luzon and Samar Island and from Leyte Island to Surigao. The work is expected to cost some US$3.85 billion. Construction work could commence in early 2018.

    Work is due to commence in 2017 on the new Cavite-Laguna Expressway in the Philippines. This 47km route will run along the coast to the south of capital Manila, with its north eastern end lying close to the city’s international airport. The route connects Cavitex in Cavite's Kawit with the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Laguna's Biñan.     Plans are in hand in the Philippines to build a new road linking the international airport of capital Manila to the city and to other surrounding highways. The contract for the project was awarded to Optimal Infrastructure Development Inc (OIDI), a subsidiary of local firm San Miguel Corp (SMC). The company will build the new Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Expressway in a deal worth some US$387.25 million for the Department of Public Works and Highways.     A new plan is calling for the construction of a tolled tunnel under the Kerch Strait. The proposal has been put forward by InzhTekhInvestStroy.
