Spanish road firm deal

The European Commission has given the go-ahead for an acquisition of Spanish highway firm Abertis by German construction company Hochtief. Hochtief is itself a subsidiary of Spanish construction firm ACS but the EC ruling says that there are no competition issues in the markets affected by the deal. London’s Westminster Council goes for gully offenders

Increasing numbers of blocked road drains and gullies has forced London’s Westminster City Council to take a tough stand with offenders The council maintains 16,500 gullies. Around 95% of a gully’s content is natural and can be recycled: taken away to road contractor FM Conway’s drainage treatment plant. Material is separated into solids, organics and water and reused as aggregates and materials in their wider construction business.
Delta Bloc solution for major upgrade to UK’s M6 motorway

Delta Bloc’s structural precast concrete barriers have been supplied for a €308 million smart motorway project being undertaken by Highways England on the M6 Motorway. Amey installing LED luminaires in a 3-year contract in Manchester

Amey has begun work in the UK city of Manchester replacing traditional discharge lamps with 56,000 LED luminaires in street lights under a three-year contract. Amey said that the LED lights will deliver significant energy and carbon emissions reductions, being around 60% more energy efficient. UltraScape Flowpoint has been used at three new roundabouts as part of the €11 million Juuliku junction and section upgrade near Tallinn.
