An early warning device: SignPost Solutions launches the SPS 468 Chevron
2439 SignPost Solutions says that its new 8202 Chevron system is easy to install, highly durable and has a series of built-in safety features to protect drivers.

The SPS 468 Chevron is designed to warn drivers of sharp bends and roundabouts.

The post is manufactured from aluminium, making it lighter than steel and safer if hit by a vehicle, according to SignPost Solutions, part of Swarco Group.

The aluminium post, part of the signStr8 range, also has a specially-designed flat edge to prevent the signs from rotating, which in turn reduces the need for costly and potentially dangerous maintenance.

The posts are installed into a socket system. If they are hit they can be replaced quickly without having to dig out and replace concrete foundations, said Tim Daly, sales manager at SignPost Solutions. Safety for both the road user as well as contractors is paramount.

“Our engineers have once again designed a product that meets its key objective of warning drivers of an ongoing hazard, but does not in itself put them or the installer in unnecessary danger,” he said.

The northern English city of Gateshead has adopted Signstr8 anti-rotational sign posts from SignPost Solutions to help reduce maintenance costs. Gateshead has specified Signstr8 for all of its steel post sign installations where strength capacity allows. As opposed to standard round poles, the 76mm diameter steel Signstr8 pole has a 30mm flat face to prevent the sign from being misaligned or rotated. The design avoids the need for costly call-outs to ensure signs are correctly orientated. They can prevent

SignPost Solutions claims that its Signstr8 product is an innovative, anti-rotational signpost that is highly resistant to crash damage and vandalism. The Signstr8 sign post can be made from either steel or aluminium, and outwardly looks like any other sign post. It uses standard fixings and a cap on the top. The difference is that Signstr8 has a designed-in flat portion so that once installed the sign is fixed and cannot be twisted around the post. This means that the signs will always have the corr

A new post system should help solve the problem of twisted road signs. The new Signstr8 signpost is designed to tackle the issue of rotated signs, which is a common problem with galvanised or painted sign posts. By incorporating one flat face in the design of the new Signstr8 signpost, regulatory signs can be fixed without any subsequent rotation of the sign. This eliminates the cost of straightening signs, often more than the cost of the original sign and post combined. Signstr8 is similar to the industry

Barrier and crash cushion systems can make a great deal of difference to roadway safety, with new technology offering major benefits to road users. In North America and Western Europe, concrete centre line dividers are being used for many major highways as these provide a durable solution for preventing cross-over accidents with large vehicles such as heavy trucks. It is worth noting too that other countries are now adopting concrete barriers for highway centre line dividers also, with this system being use
