April 23, 2018
Dana Rexroth transmission systems says it is working with engine manufacturers in the off-highway industry to support European stage V engine emissions regulations. Its hydromechanical variable transmission (HVT) platform is already prepared for stage V emissions standards, and the firm is collaborating with leading engine manufacturers to develop transmission control software that will allow it to deliver a fully compliant solution.
Digger DTR unveils the remote control augmented reality Scrapper system
April 23, 2018
Digger DTR’s new Scrapper technology allows construction machines to be operated at distances of up to 500 metres using a remote-control system and augmented reality goggles. Scrapper allows operators to work at a safe distance in dangerous situations such as landslides or areas contaminated by chemicals or radioactive substances. The system also works well in areas where there is a high risk of an explosion. The operator can see what’s happening through a stereo camera installed in the machine’s passenger
Hybrid technology for Hamm’s HD+ 90i PH tandem roller goes on show
April 23, 2018
Hamm is claiming a first with its hybrid 9 tonne HD+ 90i PH tandem roller. The German manufacturer believes that it is the first roller manufacturer to develop a production-ready machine. Most hybrid solutions, as in the case of cars, combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor. Hamm has instead combined an internal combustion engine with a hydraulic system for the tandem roller. Although the maximum load is used regularly for compacting, it is always just for a few seconds at a time.
Dana showcases Brevini electrification and motion control
April 23, 2018
Dana’s acquisition of Italian component maker Brevini has extended the company’s knowledge base with access to a diverse range of motion control and vehicle electrification components. As a result, the firm showcased an aerial work platform at Intermat Paris 2018 that had been stripped of its original components. Kitted out with a combination of Dana, Spicer and Brevini motion control systems, it is designed to support the power distribution needs of hybrid and electric off-highway vehicles.

Wirtgen’s W150 CFi has expanded drum
April 23, 2018
Wirtgen’s compact milling machines W150 CF and W150 CFi can now be equipped with a 300mm extension kit to increase drum width to 1,800mm. With the Flexible Cutter System, users can switch between milling drums with different working widths of 600mm, 900mm, 1,200mm and 1,500mm simply and very quickly. In addition, with the 1,500mm working width it is possible to switch to milling drums with different tool spacings. The machines - with their powerful 298kW engines and the 300mm extension kit - can tackle a
Dana reveals electrified technologies
April 23, 2018
Dana has revealed a host of electrified technologies in response to the rapidly evolving development of hybrid- and electric-powered construction equipment. Consistent with its approach in other vehicle markets, Dana’s strategy enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to accelerate their hybrid and electric vehicle development programmes. It starts with a modular approach that combines Spicer electrified hybrid and electric drivetrain solutions into current vehicle architectures with internal-combus
Wacker Neuson launches electric zero-tailed EZ17e mini excavator
April 23, 2018
Wacker Neuson has introduced its first fully electric, battery-powered mini excavator. The EZ17e performs and handles like a diesel-powered model – all hydraulic functions are as powerful as those of the conventional model, the battery is integrated in the existing engine compartment and the machine weighs almost the same as the diesel version, so can be transported on a trailer. The EZ17e, which will be available from 2019, can either run entirely on its battery or connected to the mains – and even
