Yanmar's SV60 midi-excavator is compact but high performance
April 26, 2018
Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe (CEE) has introduced the SV60, its latest short-tail midi-excavator. The 5.7 tonne machine has been designed to offer the performance of a midi-excavator with the benefits of a compact excavator, claims the company. The SV60 has a reduced tail swing and a minimal rotational radius of 2,240mm, giving it a working envelope of 3,565mm. With comfort in mind to enhance operator productivity, the new machine's cabin is comparable in size to 8 and 10 tonne excavators. Operatin
Rockmore International unveils ROK 550T drill
April 26, 2018
Rockmore International has launched its new ROK 550T drill for the European market. The latest addition to the company’s T Series DTH hammer line, the 127mm class product uses the industry-standard QL5/QL50 bit shank, but with the blow tube/foot valve (plastic tube) removed. Pejman Eghdami, Rockmore executive vice president, said: “Plastic parts do tend to break in deep hole drilling, causing the hammer to stop leading to costly downtime. Others have tried removing the plastic tube but they lose a lot of
Indeco’s attachment range additions coming
April 26, 2018
Indeco is widening its range of hydraulic attachments for use on excavators, part of a major investment in its overall business operations. The company is also setting up a new manufacturing facility close to its HQ in Bari, Italy, which will be used to make the demolition shears and cutters. Marketing manager Michele Vitulano said: “We are increasing the range and starting on the development of new products. We will come out next year with an even bigger hammer. We had a request for a higher level of

Spanish asphalt plant manufacturer Intrame has now developed its full range of Flow-Mix continuous plants, from 100 to 400 tonnes, to take up to 50% reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). “Today, everything is about RAP,” says Intrame CEO Antonio Morón Hodge. “Customers are interested in the ability to add more RAP, to use lower temperatures and to mix with bitumen foaming emulsion.”
Smoother gravel roads with FAE’s MTL stone crusher
April 26, 2018
Gravel road bases are about to get a new smoothing-out treatment with the MTL, a multi-purpose light-stone crusher from Italian firm FAE. The MTL fits between the small RSL for tractors with 60-142kW of power and the medium MTM for tractors with power between 179-268kW. The MTL was developed for customers with 104kW to 179kw tractors who need soil stabilisation, rock slab grinding, stone crushing and asphalt shredding at a maximum depth of 280mm.
BOMAG’s latest highway class paver upgrade
April 26, 2018
New operating features for the BOMAG BF 800 C-2 paver are said to help increase its output and efficiency when working onsite. An important development is the new traffic light system, which helps improve communications between the paver operator and the asphalt delivery truck driver. This ensures a more even supply of material into the hopper and tells the truck driver when it is full. Some proven features have been retained, such as the high quality screeds, which benefit from a long and heavy design, th
Ardennes Tech brings Fortress shears to French market
April 26, 2018
Ardennes Tech has added Fortress mobile shears from ShearCore to its range of attachments. ShearCore's FC series of 'concrete cracker' shears features a narrow stick body for improved visibility for the operator and a removable isolated bottom cover for easy access to all serviceable components. The Fortress FC25 has a shear weight 2,722 kg, jaw opening of 813 mm and jaw depth of 722 mm, with a reach of 2,565 mm. Minimum excavator boom mount is 14 tonnes, and stick mount is 20 tonnes. The Model FS45R shea
Cleaner milling with BOMAG’s new Ion Dustshield system
April 26, 2018
BOMAG claims that its new Ion Dustshield system can help reduce dust emissions from milling operations. According to Jonathan Stringham, vice president of marketing at BOMAG: “If you look at the milling process, it’s another emitter of fine dust.” He said that existing dust control systems remove dust from the working area around the operator, but then blow the fumes and dust forward of the machine away from the crew.
Concrete is sustainable if buildings are designed for long life
April 26, 2018
Concrete is the material of the future because it is sustainable – but only if we think about what will happen to it over the long term when we pour it, says Franck Vialet, associate architect with VIB. Concrete buildings can last 60 years or more, therefore they should be designed for 'upgradability' and recycling – allowing for change of use over time to extend their life. Concrete is an inherently architectural material, says Vialet, because it is robust, has attractive aesthetic qualities, can be used
Upright performance from the RW 500 wheel saw from Simex
April 26, 2018
Simex has continued with design refinements of the RW 500 wheel saw with the introduction of the RWA 500. The RWA 500 operates constantly perpendicular to the surface, even when the prime mover, a skidsteer wheeled loader, is at a slant. The RWA 500’s high productivity is a result of hydraulic piston motors in direct drive with the milling disk, which delivers maximum efficiency and a large cutting force. Operators are assured good visibility because the excavation depth corresponds exactly and
