Late delivery for Lagos to Ibadan highway upgrade

Completion of the Lagos to Ibadan highway upgrade in Nigeria will not occur until 2021. The improvement work was initially to have been delivered by 2017. However a string of delays to the work have resulted from insufficient funds and from contractors leaving the jobsite. The current Nigerian Government has now cleared the debts for the project. Work is underway in the US state of Delaware to upgrade the US 301 highway route. The 24km route is benefiting from the installation of the latest open-road tolling technology as part of the US$636 million improvement project, which is being managed by the Delaware Department of Transportation.

Work moving ahead on Paraguay’s new roads

A series of major road contracts have been awarded in Paraguay, although delays are being seen on one key link. The country’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) gave its approval for a series of road contracts to be awarded. These four packages are worth over US$136 million and are for18 different sections.
Financing for Ecuador road rebuilding

Financing has been secured for road rebuilding work in Ecuador. The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) will provide US$192 million for road maintenance work. The deal was agreed with Ecuador’s Ministry of Transport and Public Works. As a result of the deal, road repairs and improvements will now be carried out in Napo, Manabí, Esmeraldas, Chimborazo, Canar, Azuay and Orellana. New construction machines, 43 in all, are being supplied for the work.

Ringway Island Roads recently completed a major 12km upgrade to one of the UK’s most iconic roads.
