The first ever Albanian Congress on Roads will be held later this year in Tirana. The two-day event hosted by the Albanian Association of Consulting Engineers (AACE) in cooperation with the Albanian Builders Association (SHNSH), Albanian Geo-Technical Association (AAGeo) and the Albanian Association of Geodesy (AAG) is being backed by, among others, the country’s Ministry of Public Works and Transports. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a US$198million (€150million) sovereign-guaranteed loan for the construction of part of the new Banja Luka-Doboj motorway in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The loan-targeted motorway section is the main east-west link in Republika Srpska, one of the country’s entities. France, which has red light enforcement cameras fitted at 700 intersections throughout the country, has reported that they are bringing in substantially more revenue than expected. The fine for those running red lights is a €135 euro fine (US$183) and four penalty points on the driver’s licence.
