A major launch from Guntert & Zimmermann is of its sophisticated equipment guidance and operation network (EGON), an advanced Plus+1 operator control system. The package is said to incorporate user friendly operator features and state of the art network controllers. The EGON system is similar to the control packages available with rival pavers, and is said to be easy and quick to use.

JCB has added to its compact equipment range with the SD580 single drum roller, the SE10-35 forward vibratory plate and the DE35-42 reversible plate. The single drum roller, which is available with or without a dedicated trailer for road towing, weighs 185kg and delivers a centrifugal force of 10kN. Liebherr has added a second model to its articulated hauler range with the TA240. The 40 tonne capacity truck has a 27m3 body and a 6x6 driveline. Power comes from a 16.2 litre Stage IIIB Liebherr V8 diesel engine delivering 350kW (476hp). This enables the truck to reach maximum speeds of up to 57km/h. JCB is adding to its waste handling range with the launch of the JS20MH materials handler and the 4CXWM wastemaster backhoe loader. The 20 tonne JS20MH is the firm’s first dedicated materials handler for the waste and recycling industries. Liebherr is launching a revised R922 crawler excavator, replacing the previous R906 and joining the R918 and R926 in the company’s medium weight line-up. Powered by a Stage IIIB Liebherr diesel engine, developing 105kW (143hp), the R922 weighs in at 22 tonnes and designed as a general purpose civils machine. Furukawa Rock Drill (FRD) has developed the Fx Series of small hydraulic breakers with a scaling version for tunnel use. Using a mono-block cylinder with replaceable wear parts, the Fx Series breakers are said to provide increased power with reduced operating noise. There are four Fx models available with weights of 112-300kg, they are intended for excavators with operating weights of 1.5-7 tonnes.

JCB will launch 427 and 437 wheeled loaders at Bauma, powered by Stage IIIB/Tier 4 Interim Cummins engines. First seen in prototype form at last year’s Intermat show, the two loaders are powered by the Cummins QSB6.7 engine, which offers a 9.4% increase in torque over the previous model.
