Hidromek has added long-reach options for three of its excavators – the HMK220LC, HMK300LC and the HMK370LC. Aimed at special earthmoving and drainage applications, the excavators carry LR branding and have ground level reach of 15.06, 18.19 and 16.6m respectively. Load over heights range from 10.85m with the HMK220LC LR to 12.59 with the HMK300LC LR. The long-reach HMK220LC delivers 7,300kgf of bucket digging force with a 0.45m3 bucket, with the figures rising to 1m3 and 11,400kgf with the HMK370LC LR.

As its Tier 4 Final/Stage 4 engine solution in the 250-383kW sector, the QSM12 benefits from higher efficiency air handling and an advanced in-cylinder combustion process, allowing a return to using a straightforward wastegated turbocharger.

Rammer, the hydraulic breaker division of Sandvik Construction, has added four additional hammers to its line-up. There are three new models for the compact range – the 255, 355 and 455 – plus the 5011 model joins the heavy breaker line. The small range models are suitable for 1.2-5.2tonne carriers. Bell has introduced a 4x4 version of its B30D articulated dump truck (ADT). The machine has the front chassis, cab and engine of the standard 6x6 but comes with a shortened rear chassis and a single axle. According to Neville Paynter, managing director of Bell UK, the machine’s short wheelbase reduces the turning circle by around 25%, making it ideal for use in underground mining and on narrow benches.

JCB says its Ecomax Stage 4/Tier 4 Final engine can be engineered into many existing machines without needing additional space by using a ‘one can’ selective catalytic reduction (SCR). According to the company’s chief technology officer, Tim Burnhope, in many cases the mini SCR on the Stage 4/Tier 4 Final Ecomax engine can be positioned in the same space occupied by the exhaust silencer on previous generations. The Rotoconix is designed for quick batching cycles, fast discharge and uniform mixing no matter the batch size. The mixer has three key parts, all of which are reversible. It combines a rotating cone a high-speed ‘turbo whirler’ and a screw.
