A wildlife photographer taking footage in South Africa’s Kruger National Park has had to have his car repaired following a somewhat unusual impact. The man was filming a herd of elephants, who were perhaps camera shy as they took exception to his presence. After several members of the herd moved towards the vehicle it was attacked by a large elephant, which rushed up to the car and rammed into it. Just what the insurance company will make of his claim for damages to the vehicle remains to be seen.

Two jewel thieves in the UK found their robbery soon faced a major hitch when a passer-by removed the keys to their getaway vehicle. The pair held up a jewellery shop and ran outside to see that someone had spotted the robbery in progress, pushed over their motorcycle and removed the keys. The man rammed his Mercedes saloon into his son’s BMW sportscar at a busy junction in the city of Ma'anshan, which is in Anhui Province. The incident was captured on CCTV and as the son attempted to drive away, the father rammed the Mercedes again into the BMW. In Mexico City a number of police horses en-route to assist officers at a demonstration decided they would take a break from the day’s work. The 20 animals escaped from the trailer in which they were being transported and bolted down the city’s busy streets. A man in South Carolina had a lucky escape after being trapped in his car for 33 hours after it crashed off the road in a rural area. After making a wrong turn and ending up on a gravel road, the man lost control of the vehicle despite his slow speed and the car fell 12m from the roadway. The Russian authorities have used a rather direct message to encourage drivers to slow down. Two female models were paid to stand by the roadside in the Nizhniy Novgorod area, east of Moscow, holding up signs bearing road safety messages. Slovakia's Parliament has approved the new law on e-toll, replacing the use of traditional motorway stickers with electronic ones. The new regulation will come into force on 1 January 2015. The price of the motorway stickers, which motorists will be able to purchase online or through petrol stations, will not increase.
