Doosan unveiled a new range of excavators that are all China Stage III compliant. While initially only for the Chinese market a Doosan representative confirmed that they will be offered for other emergent markets. The largest is the DX500LC-9C. In the 50 tonne class it is powered by a 257kW engine and has a 2.14m3 bucket.

Cummins unveiled two new engines at bauma in Shanghai. Both the QSF3.8 and QSB7 are primarily for the Chinese market and are Tier 3 compliant. “They are optimised for excavator products and for Chinese OEM manufacturers” said Jonathon White Executive Director of Off Highways at Cummins. Volvo CE unveiled its new paver at Bauma 2014 in Shanghai. The new mid-sized P6820C ABG has lower fuel consumption and produces less noise than the model it replaces and is designed to deliver smooth mats in demanding conditions such as steep hills. Power is provided by Volvo’s D6E COM IIIA Tier 3 compliant engine providing power of 142kW. A smart power mode selectable by the operator lowers the engine RPM to match power and demand allowing fuel savings of up to 30%.
