Electric charging points for northern Europe

The EU will support the development of routes designed to carry electric vehicle vehicles in northern Europe. This investment will be supported by the EU's TEN-T Programme. In excess of €4 million will be spent on building an open access fast charging station network in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. In total 155 chargers for electric vehicles are to be installed along the main highways connecting these countries.
Ammann’s versatile new asphalt plant

Ammann says that its new QuickBatch batch asphalt mixing plant offers high production as well as mobility. Jean-Luc Didier is sales director for Central-South Europe for the firm and explained that the plant can be carried on eight trucks and fits inside standard 2.5m wide containers.

The latest figures on asphalt production in Europe, published in November 2014 by the European Asphalt Pavement Association (EAPA), show production of asphalt in 2013 was slightly down on 2012 levels in most countries. Komatsu’s new D155AX-8 dozer makes European debut

Making its European debut is Komatsu’s D155AX-8 crawler dozer. Offering operating weights between 38 and 43tonnes, depending on machine set-up, the D155AX-8 has a patented SIGMADOZER blade which gives the machine a high blade capacity of 9.4m³. Komatsu claims that SIGMADOZER increases productivity by up to 15% over a conventional semi-u blade.

Colombian highway tenders now underway

In Colombia the tender process is underway for two major highway projects worth a total of US$1.257 billion. The Autopista Mar 1 and Autopista Mar 2 projects are located in the department of Antioquia and the details of the projects were published by Colombia’s national infrastructure agency ANI, reports Business News Americas. These projects number amongst the 10 concessions the Colombian Government is awarding for the second round of its $25 billion 4G national highway plan.
Interest strong in Brazilian bridge tender

Interest is strong in the tender for Brazil’s proposed Rio-Niteroi bridge project. So far three groups have expressed an interest in tendering for the project, EcoRodovias, Arteris, and current contract holder CCR. The tender will commence on March 18th 2015. A number of other groups had shown interest but will duck out due to legal issues relating to the Lava-Jato case that is ongoing at present.
