A man in New South Wales, Australia has set a record for a driving ban in his own country, and perhaps anywhere. Following a string of offences he has been disqualified from driving until 2094. Since his licence was first suspended he has been stopped while driving by police a total of 29 times in all. Police in Germany were amused when they discovered the culprit in a series of mysterious speeding offences in a north German town. The town’s speed cameras had been triggered, but no cars were visible in the photos. However the mystery was solved when a parakeet was photographed clearly in one image, flying across the front of a speed camera and triggering the device. A vehicle passenger in Scotland has been videoed jumping out of a moving vehicle for a bet. He accepted the £20 bet from his friends and after a moment of deliberation, jumped from the vehicle as it drove past a graveyard. His head did hit the ground and he was then filmed sitting stunned but luckily uninjured by the stunt. His friends found this hilarious and paid him the money. It is not clear if he intends to repeat the prank. It seems unlikely however that he would be able to find work as a stuntman.

At this point one of the owners of the vehicles that had been damaged jumped up and began pummelling the wheeled loader driver. A heavily-used bridge of historic importance in US capital Washington DC looks set to benefit from much-needed improvement works. The work will be part funded by a US$90 million from the US Department of Transportation. The structure of the Arlington Memorial Bridge has become degraded over time and has been highlighted in a number of reports as being in dire need of a major rebuild. Work is now underway in Namibia to upgrade key road links. One project will see improvement works to the B2 coastal road connecting Swakopmund with Walvis Bay. Another project is for the widening and resurfacing of the C28 link, which runs from Swakopmund to Namibia’s capital Windhoek and will be reclassified as Main Road 44 once the improvements are complete. In all the work is expected to cost over US$137 million, with a total of 100km of road due to be improved and upgraded over a three year period.
