Komatsu has revealed two new mid-sized excavators – the PC240LC-10 and PC290LC-10. Komatsu’s Dash 10 excavators are said to bring improved efficiency, lower fuel consumption, better operator comfort and lower operating costs to market. And the two new Dash 10 models include the 26tonne PC240LC-10 and 31.9tonne PC290LC-10.

Caterpillar Paving intends to increase sales into the soil compaction sector with its B-series CS and CP single drum machines. The CS68B and CS78B are smooth drum machines while the CP68B and CP78B have a single padfoot drum. The CS68B and CP68B compete in the 14tonne class while the larger CS78B and CP78B are 17tonne class compactors. The machines all share features such as the new high comfort, high visibility, climate-controlled cab.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Bobcat compact excavator range, a new Limited Edition version of the Bobcat E16 1.6 tonne compact excavator is being unveiled at INTERMAT 2012. The Limited Edition E16 model is said by Bobcat to be available as standard with a retractable undercarriage, while also offering powerful performance, superior reliability and durability. The machine’s smooth responsive hydraulics are said to enable precise movements and fast cycle times.

The five new compact-radius Caterpillar E Series Mini Hydraulic Excavators are equipped with a new digital COMPASS—Complete Operation, Maintenance, Performance, and Security System – control panel. Built into the COMPASS monitor are an anti-theft system, requiring a five-digit alphanumeric password to start the machine, and an Economy Mode feature (3.5 to 5.5tonne machines) which, Cat says, can potentially lower fuel use up to 20% by adjusting engine speed.

The new 13.6tonne Caterpillar 312E small crawler excavator replaces the 312D, while the new 16.7tonne 316E takes over from the 315D. Both machines feature what are said to be highly efficient Cat engines to EU Stage IIIB emissions standard, while providing fuel savings of 8% and 9% respectively.

New Holland is introducing new models of heavy-duty crawler excavators. The E385C and E485C are in the 35tonne and 48tonne category respectively. The Holland said that they have been built deal with the most demanding applications and harshest conditions. The latest models offer more power and fast cycles with new Tier 4 interim engines and new hydraulics. Fuel consumption is improved through the new hydraulics and new ECO working mode.

Dynapac says that its new fifth generation CA single drum vibratory rollers, the CA5000, CA6000 and CA6500, offer performance upgrades over other machines. These machines have transverse-mounted engines that improve serviceability as well as optimised amplitude to boost compaction performance. The new generation JS crawler excavators from JCB are said to deliver increased performance along with reduced running costs.
