Three new solutions from Trimble Heavy Civil Construction designed to connect the construction site and lead to increased efficiency and reduced costs has been unveiled at the show. The solutions for heavy civil construction professionals include the Trimble Connected Office, the Trimble Connected Controller and the Trimble Connected Machine.

Command Alkon has launched the COMMANDbatch CP, a totally automated solution for the production of manufactured concrete products. COMMANDbatch CP is a Windows-based system that is fully compatible with standard concrete production equipment. New from Ascorel Controls is the MC 803 safety and command system. Its software and sensors are tailored to fit different types of equipment such as tower or mobile cranes, earthmoving equipment and access platforms. Features of this latest model include a colour touch screen and higher capacity communication systems as well as double-redundancy in the safety systems.

Topcon’s RTP-300 machine, launched at INTERMAT, is no slouch in providing fast and exact road surface data for construction companies and highway authority consultants. “What is typically used is a car [fitted with road surface profiling technology] that needs to keep stopping when scanning a road surface profile. On larger highways, this has meant the road needs to be closed,” said Achiel Sturm, Topcon’s marketing manager.

Epec is hoping to be a controlling influence at INTERMAT. The Finnish firm’s managing director, Jouni Matikainen, said the 32-bit processor and increased calculating power of the new 5050 control unit for mobile construction machines had created a “very powerful” unit. Matikainen said that all Epec’s range of control units, including the new 2024 model being exhibited at the show, have been made to cope with extreme application conditions, including dust-heavy mining.

It’s a case of entering a new Hemisphere for one Canadian firm at INTERMAT. Hemisphere GPS is highlighting its wide range of machine control and guidance systems during its show debut. The ergonomic Earthworks Z300 for dozers, a new system being exhibited by the Calgary-based firm, is said to improve grade control accuracy while reducing rework and the number of required passes. A further new Hemisphere GPS system on show is the S320 GNSS Survey Receiver. The model includes SMS communication, GSM auto cor
