Engineering consultancy Ramboll has won a €40 million design contract to upgrade two junctions on the A55 North Wales Expressway in the UK. The A55 North Wales Coast Road between Conwy and Bangor comprises one of the most dramatic highways in the country. The road squeezes between rugged mountains and the Irish Sea and comprises several tunnels. Between 1970 and 2000 the road was renovated into a dual carriageway, linking Chester and Holyhead. A series of major bridge projects are underway in Russia, in the Krasnodar Region, Novosibirsk and the Surgut District. A new bridge being built in the Krasnodar Region is expected to be open to vehicle traffic at the end of 2018. A new US$307.5 million highway project is now underway in Abu Dhabi, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2020. The project involves building a new road link from Umm Lafina and the Al Reem islands to the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road. The work is being split into two separate contracts. A new report highlights the growth for sales of construction machines into the Indian market. This market did see a drop in the 2014-2015 period but has been growing quickly since 2016. Guangxi Liugong Machinery (LiuGong) has bought a controlling interest in Chinese piling machine specialist Shanghai Jintai Engineering Machinery (Jintai). The US$85.24 million deal has seen LiuGong buying 51% of Jintai from its parent, by Guangxi Liugong Group.
