Bolivia’s highway expansion programme continues with plans unveiled for a new project worth some US$400 million. The highway will be located in the vicinity of Cochabamba. Discussions over financing the project have been carried out with the Latin American Development Bank (CAF). A timeline for the project has not so far been announced however. The route of the highway has also to be announced.

Construction work on a 48km section of road connecting Tizi-Ouzou with Algeria’s East-West motorway is due for completion in 2016. The work is costing close to US$960 million, according to the Algerian Public Works Ministry. In addition, construction work on a road connecting Aïn El Hammam with Draâ El Mizan is now commencing while the Algerian Public Works Ministry has said that the Northern Bypass will be completed as planned by the end of March 2015. The Ugandan Government is planning to launch a tender to build a six-lane highway that will stretch 77km and connect Kampala with Jinja. Costing in the region of US$800 - $1 billion, work is due to commence in 2015. The project will be carried out under the PPP model with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) acting as the project's transaction advisor. Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure says that the new Zemun-Borca Bridge will open by 20th December 2014. The Zemum Bridge project will be complete within the planned timeframe, with this work including the access roads. Morocco’s Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport is developing a new national road plan. The first stage is to carry out a study into the country’s transport needs. This will be an extension of the 2035 road plan. At present, Morocco has 51,000km of roads, including 41,431km of surfaced roads and 727km of expressways. A new transport plan is being drawn up in the Philippines in a bid to deal with the country’s frequent traffic delays. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has commissioned the World Bank to set out a country-wide infrastructure roadmap. This plan is called the 'Philippine Transport Infrastructure Development' by the World Bank is in broadly in line with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)'s 'Dream Plan' for the country. Further problems surround the project to construct Algeria’s East-West Highway. Much of the route is complete, however a number of sections have faced delays with disputes having developed between contractors and the Algerian Government, which is overseeing the project.
