Plans are in hand for a new bridge between Cameroon and Chad. The new bridge will be built to improve the road connection between Yagoua in northern Cameroon and Bongor in Chad. It will cross the Logone River, which forms a stretch of the border between the two countries from Lake Chad and running to the south of Bongor. The work is expected to cost around US$127 million. The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) said it is on track to announce tender winners for two bridges, across the Msikaba River and Mtentu River, by the end of the year. The Msikaba River Bridge will be constructed on the N2 Wild Coast Toll Road and will consist of a cable-stayed 580m-long structure spanning a deep gorge. The Mtentu River Bridge, also on the N2 Wild Coast Toll Road and around 12km to the north of Msikaba River, is expected to be a concrete structure and nearl.y 1.2kkm long.

A 25km section of Guadalajara’s new bypass route in Mexico’s Jalisco State is now open to traffic. This section of the route cost just under US$81 million to construct. The bypass section features four lanes, with two in either direction and will help cut congestion in the centre of Guadalajara, as through-traffic will no longer have to drive into the city. A report is being compiled in Brazil regarding the state of the country’s road network. The report was compiled by the country’s national transport confederation, CNT, in July 2016. The report is due to be released in October 2016. However CNT says it is pessimistic about what the report will state. Work is now commencing on the final stretch of the Wekiva Parkway, State Road 429, in Florida. This will be the fifth section of the parkway, with the work being managed by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX). Section 2A will stretch 3.2km and the construction work expected to be complete in January 2018. The German province of Thuringia plans to maintain, repair and develop its road network during 2016. A budget of €222 million has been set for spending on roads in Thuringia during 2016 by the authorities. During the summer period there will be 37 workzone sites on Thuringia's road network. The main commercial and administrative centre for Thuringia is Erfurt, although the province also includes the historically important towns of Weimar and Eisenach.

In South Korea a contractor has been awarded the deal to construct and important new stretch of highway. The US$263.3 million deal is for a section of the Seoul-Sejong expressway. Hanwha Engineering & Construction (Hanwha E&C) will construct the section of the route in Gyeonggi Province. In all the new route will measure some 129km when complete and will connect Guri in Gyeonggi Province to Sejong. This will be one of several new highways running from north to south in South Korea.

Plans are being made for a new bridge to connect Clarinda in Argentina with Puerto Falcon in Paraguay. The bridge will span the Pilcomayo River, the longest tributary of the Paraguay River and it will connect Highway 11 in Argentina with Highway 12 in Paraguay, close to its capital, Asuncion. The size of Australia’s largest infrastructure project could get bigger with the addition of another tunnel, according to media reports. The New South Wales state government is considering another tunnel, around 1km long, in the inner west, expanding the size of Sydney's WestConnex toll road project, according to the Sydney Motorway Corporation, which along with its state government client, Roads and Maritime Services, is in charge or the US$12.74 billion project.
