Singapore road corridor project due to commence

Construction work for Singapore’s North-South Corridor (NSC) project will commence in 2018. South Korean contractor Samsung C&T will carry out the first stage of work for the project in a deal worth just over US$601 million. The package of works was awarded to the firm by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA).
New Zealand motorway link approved

A key approval stage has been reached for New Zealand’s Northern Corridor Improvement project. Ivory Coast bridge deal for French firms

The reconstruction work for an important bridge link in Côte d'Ivoire’s capital, Abidjan, will be carried out by two French contractors. Eiffage and Spie Batignolles are to rebuild Abidjan’s Félix Houphouët-Boigny Bridge. Funding for the work is being provided by the French Development Agency (AFD). The project has a contract value of US$62.73 million and the work is expected to take 30 months to complete.

New stretch of highway in Santiago, Chile, opens

A new section of the Santiago Los Vilos highway in Chile is now open to traffic. The stretch of the route was opened by FCC Construcción, the infrastructure area of the FCC Group. The highway will improve access to the northern side of Santiago. The 15km stretch urban highway runs from the Quilicura junction to Lampa. New Australia bridge built at the weekend

In Adelaide, South Australia, a new bridge has been constructed over the Southern Expressway. The 180m long bridge weighs 3,000tonnes and was slid into place over the weekend of the 25th and 26th November, 2017. The Main South Road bridge project has cost US$494 million (A$620 million). A second span will be slid into position in early 2018. The project method has called for the construction of the bridges adjacent to the installation site, the first time the technique has been utilised in Australia.
Malaysian contractor to carry out Indian highway project

A Malaysian contractor will carry out a highway project worth US$357.1 million in India. The project is for the construction of the new National Highway 52 and will be carried out by IJM Corp (IJM). The stretch will connect Solapur in Karnataka State with Bijapur in Maharashtra State. The work involves widening and improving the existing two lane route so that it will have two lanes in either direction.
Lane Construction to carry out Florida highway deal

Lane Construction Corporation will carry out construction work worth US$134.6 million on a stretch of highway in Florida. This 21km section of the new Suncoast Parkway 2 will run to the north of Tampa, along Florida’s western coast. New bridge for Kemerovo, Russia

A long term plan is calling for the construction of a third highway bridge spanning the Tom River in Kemerovo, Russia. The local authorities expect the project to cost some US$208 million. The two existing routes, one of which carries the P-255 highway that connects with the city’s airport, are no longer able to cope with traffic demand.
Kazakhstan highway rebuilding deal agreed

Plans are now being drawn up for the rebuilding of a 114km stretch of highway in Kazakhstan. The A-22 route in the Kostanay Region will be upgraded and improved, boosting both safety and capacity for drivers. This stretch of highway lies in the north of Kazakhstan, close to the border with Russia. The upgrade work will commence towards the end of 2018 and will cost US$149 million.
