Manitou is updating its MRT rotating upperstructure telescopic handler range, with Stage IIIB engines, attachment recognition systems, automatic stability settings and adaptive load charts. Split into more basic Easy models, and the higher specification Privilege line, the MRT machines use a mix of Perkins and Mercedes-Benz engines. MOBA continues to develop its novel MDS-2000 drilling system. This package has already proven itself in use for blast hole drilling in many operations and can now be used to record the orientation of the machine with GNSS antennae and the height using laser reference. Manitou Group’s two skid steer divisions, Gehl and Mustang, will launch versions of the same 1,815kg capacity skid steer at Bauma. The Gehl V400 and Mustang 4000V are said to be the world’s most powerful skid steers, with a vertical lift height of 3,647mm. The machines use a 74kW (99hp) engine and develop a 40.7kN breakout force.

With an operating weight of 83.8 – 86tonnes, Hitachi’s giant ZX870LCH-5 excavator is said to be built to operate on the most demanding job sites, such as large-scale construction projects and in busy quarries. The model incorporates the HIOS IIIB hydraulic system, said to allow for faster operation with lower fuel consumption and increased front speed. Though keeping exact specification under wraps until the show, Manitou will unveil the first three models in a revised MT line-up of telescopic handlers. The Stage IIIB machines will offer lift heights of 8-30m, and will focus on ease of use for the operator.

Dressta is offering improved versions of its 560E and 555C Extra wheeled loaders, with new Cummins diesels. Power for the larger 560E Extra now comes from a Cummins QSX15 diesel rated at 319kW, compared with the 310kW of the previous engine in this machine. The six cylinder Cummins engine drives through a torque converter, a three-speed, full powershift, countershaft transmission, front and rear axle drives and conventional differentials.

French excavator and loader manufacturer Mecalac will launch its MCR6 compact excavator at Bauma. The machine, seen in prototype form at last year’s Intermat show, has a travel speed of up to 10km/h and can be used as both a skid steer loader and an excavator. Built at a new site in Turkey, the MCR6 weighs in at 6 tonnes and is powered by a 55kW (75hp) engine. In excavator mode the machine has a maximum tearout force of 2,400daN and a breakout force of 3,900daN.

Haver & Boecker is expanding its screen range with the addition of the Ty-Wire hybrid screen deck and of ultrasound screen decks. Ty-Wire hybrid screens use wire that is covered in polyurethane, providing a greater open area than a standard PU screen but with a lifetime that can be 4-6 times longer.

Mecalac is expanding its telescopic handler offering with the introduction of a line of four-wheel steer telescopic machines. The AT series will initially consist of two machines the AT900 and the AT1050, both using what Mecalac calls Z plus kinematics to provide strong breakout forces with a parallel lift. The AT900 weighs 6,554kg and can be used with 0.9-1.5m3 capacity buckets. The larger AT1050 has been designed to work with 1.05-1.6m3 buckets and offers slightly high breakout forces and dump height.

Liebherr’s compact L506C and L508C wheeled loaders both have a very low overall height, aiding stability and versatility when working in congested site conditions. Weighing 5,180kg and 5,600kg respectively the two loaders offer tipping loads of 3,450kg and 3,850kg. The L506C is powered by a 45kW (61hp) engine and comes with a 0.8m3 bucket, while the L508C uses a 49kW (67hp) motor and a 1.0m3 bucket. The package is said to incorporate user friendly operator features and state of the art network controllers. JCB has added to its compact equipment range with the SD580 single drum roller, the SE10-35 forward vibratory plate and the DE35-42 reversible plate. The single drum roller, which is available with or without a dedicated trailer for road towing, weighs 185kg and delivers a centrifugal force of 10kN.
