The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
Three contracts in Angola are now commencing, which will improve road and bridge links in the country. The three projects will be carried out by two Portuguese contractors, which agreed the deals with the Angolan Government. Conduril will build a bridge in a deal worth US$110 million in the northern Zaire Province. Meanwhile Talhabel has a contract worth $28.73 million to upgrade the road 230 in the stretch between Muriege and Chiluage, which is close to the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Jacobs Engineering Group has won the contract to upgrade Scotland’s A9 highway which runs from central Scotland to the far north coast, converting the route into a dual carriageway between Perth and Inverness, one of the busiest sections of the route. Jacobs said that the deal will be “one of the largest road infrastructure projects in Scotland’s history.”

Przedsiebiorstwo Uslug Technicznych Intercor has been awarded a contract to build the second section of the S3 dual carriageway.
The 11.6km section will stretch from Przeszkody to Paszkow and cost around €106 million (nearly US$116 million).
The S3 will run from Świnoujście on the Baltic Sea through Szczecin, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Zielona Góra and Legnica to the border with the Czech Republic, where it will connect to the D11 motorway.
