The German province of Baden- Württemberg has issued a list of 20 ready to be built federal trunk road projects worth a combined US$1.01billion (€800mn).The first five could be started in 2014 and the next five in 2015 or 2016.
The Philippines is setting major targets for road development in coming years. A planned budget of US$2.59 billion has been set for infrastructure in the city of Luzon for 2015. Two of China’s provinces, Shanxi and Sichuan, have announced plans to invest in infrastructure expansion. Shanxi Province has plans to invest US$3.44 billion in road construction projects during 2014. Seven new highway projects with a total length exceeding 375km will commence in the year. China’s Ministry of Transport has given the green light for construction of a US$1.67 billion highway in the eastern seaboard province of Zhejiang.
The project is for a 58km road linking Taishun County with Wencheng County, around the nearby city of Wenzhou.
Last month the ministry passed a feasibility study for the work which is set to start sometime next year.
