The next generation in asphalt testing automation

Cooper Technology, among the leaders in the design and manufacture of computercontrolled testing equipment for asphaltic and unbound materials, has unveiled its next generation of intelligent technology. New developments to the pioneering company's standalone four-point bending beam (BB) machine SA4PT Control Unit MKII that facilitates the rapid throughput of modulus and fatigue tests, now integrates the fully automated software of the Beam Flex V3 1.0.
New communication centre for crusher manufacturer

As part of an ambitious programme, HAZEMAG & EPR has opened its new communication centre at its headquarters in Dülmen, Germany. The mechanical engineering company (HAZEMAG is one of the pioneers in the production of machinery and plant for the raw materials processing, mining, power station and drilling industries) employs some 400 staff in Germany and abroad.
Argentina opts for Finnish engineering input

Finnish contractor Pöyry is starting work on a road inspection programme in Northern Argentina . The firm was awarded the €1 million contract to inspect works on provincial road #28 in Argentina by the Road Infrastructure National Programme. Pöyry is carrying out this Inter-American Development Bank financed project in partnership with local company IATASA and the technical services will be provided over a 36 month period.

Huge repair bill for Britain's potholes

Following one of the coldest winters in recent memory, Britain’s roads have stacked up an estimated £10 billion (€11.5 billion) repair bill just for potholes. These are caused by the freeze/thaw cycle: water seeps into cracks in the road surface, expands when frozen and then breaks up when it thaws. It has been estimated that in Britain there is at least one pothole for every 110m (sometimes many more) and that it will take at least 15 years to fix the problem.
'Green' asphalt plant

UK contractor FM Conway has formally opened its new ship unloading facility at its asphalt plant at Erith in Kent on the banks of the River Thames near London. Powerscreen is restructuring its distribution channel in Russia with the appointment of one dealer covering all of the European part of Russia, including Federal Districts 1,2,3,4 and the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Oblasts. The mobile crushing, screening and washing equipment provider will be represented in European Russia by Kwintmadi, part of the JVM Group.
India to manufacture asphalt plants

Italian asphalt plant manufacturer Bernardi Impianti International and Speedcrafts have signed a licence agreement for the manufacturing of asphalt batching plants in India. The plants will be manufactured on the basis of Bernardi design and technology.
Hydrogen plant reduces carbon emissions

The new hydrogen plant of speciality oil company Nynas has been inaugurated in Nynäshamn, Sweden, by County Governor Per Unckel. The SEK 800 million (E85.4 million) investment safeguards the refinery's supply of hydrogen and lays the foundations for future expansion. Next year Nynas will be switching its raw material for the production of hydrogen to natural gas, reducing the company's carbon dioxide emissions by 20,000tonnes/year.
