The Alimak Group reports good business levels for the January-September 2016 period and is looking to make an acquisition. The firm said that it has had profitable growth in the third quarter with an operating margin (EBIT) of15.4%, compared with 15.2% for the same period last year. Meanwhile it has seen a 6% growth in order intake, driven by a healthy demand for construction equipment. The operating margin (EBIT) for after sales meanwhile has been 32.4%, compared with 29.5% for the same period last year.

A slow but steady recovery in machine sales worldwide is likely in the next few years, with India being one of the key growth markets for the future. A new agreement between IHI and Kato will see the two firms joining their construction machine operations together. IHI Corporation (IHI) announced has agreed to transfer all the shares in its wholly‐owned IHI Construction Machinery business to Kato Works. Major expressway projects are now moving forward in the Philippines, with building due to start in the first quarter of 2017. Metro Pacific is gearing up to commence construction of the C5 Link Expressway. Meanwhile Metro Pacific Investments Corp (MPIC) has plans to commence construction of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway. Funding sources are now being secured for Indonesia’s massive Trans Java toll project. A portion of the financing is being delivered by Sarana Multi Infrastuktur, Taspen, and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Part of the financing package will also be sourced from pension funds such as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and Taspen. The project will be carried out by Waskita Toll Road.

India’s federal government has sanctioned the construction or upgrading of 2,500km of national level roads in Telangana state. Work should include another ring road around the capital Hyderabad, according to a report in the Times of India newspaper. The head of the state government, chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, said state planning officials will need to come up with a detailed forward plan for transportation in the new state. Serbia will cooperate with Albania on construction of the proposed Nis-Merdare-Prishtina motorway, according to media reports. Serbian vice president and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, said that the motorway will be part of a larger project to give faster access, through Pristina, capital of Kosovo, to Albania’s Adriatic Sea port of Drac.

Construction of the €356 million Presov motorway bypass should start in the spring, according Arpad Ersek, Slovakia’s minister for transport. However, no contract has been finalised with the winner of the tender, the consortium of Metrostav Slovakia, Metrostav, Doprastav, and Eurovia.
