Volvo Penta has highlighted its battery-electric platform for construction, emphasising its battery energy storage (BESS) subsystem.

The engine manufacturer says it delivers dependable power through its core pillars: proven combustion engines, purpose-built electric drivelines, and integrated battery energy storage subsystems.

A new tool from Triangle Tyre is said to optimise reliability for users. The TPMS system from the firm allows remote monitoring of tyres fitted to large construction machines.

This can help boost uptime and reduce costly downtime. Temperatures and pressures can be monitored to ensure reliability. The TPMS unit offers comprehensive, real-time tyre tracking and monitoring capabilities, boosting site safety and minimising unplanned and costly machine downtime.

BKT’s best-performing tyres are designed for maximum strength, durability, and safety even under the most demanding operating conditions, such as quarrying, mining and heavy construction projects. 

One of the real stars is the EARTHMAX SR 468, a large radial tyre specifically developed for trucks. Thanks to BKT's advanced technology, this pattern has been designed to carry heavy loads while providing resistance against rock cuts and punctures. The innovative tread design ensures durability and high performance even under severe conditions. 

Cummins is working with Holtex and the University of Manchester on Project Unity. This will see the development of an advanced digital tool aimed at improving the design and durability of components used in hydrogen-fuelled powertrains.

With £2.4 million in funding from the UK Government, Cummins will head Project Unity from its Huddersfield, UK facility.
